Multiple Intelligences and the EQ – old trend, viewed from a contemporary perspective
The idea of multiple intelligences introduced by Howard Gardner in the 1970s has revolutionised the teaching world but also brought forward a lot of unanswered questions: how DO you adapt your teaching to the different learning styles present in your classroom?

While the answer is not easy to find, through soul searching, mindfulness and open-mindedness, and using a variety of communication strategies, Maria will introduce you to ways to nurture multiple intelligences while still catering to the needs of the learners as a group. Together, you will identify steps in the developmental phase of an individual, starting with early childhood, elementary years moving into young adult life, that can be used in planning and achieve the set goals.

At anytime you would like to communicate with Maria, you can at the following email:mdmillar@telus.net

Intersectionality - Walking a Tightrope
Diversity, human rights and inclusion are highlighted in this talk on Intersectionality.
In this talk Dr Michael Marshall explores the overlapping identities that contribute to our personhood and selves and how those interact to create disadvantage in BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) individuals in schools. He looks to show how changes can be made in school systems to highlight and celebrate difference while leveling the playing field for all persons in schools.

This can be a keynote or plenary talk that provides insight and education while challenging views on the systemic nature of prejudice and exclusion. Dr Marshall is able to tie in many diverse but inter-related themes that will leave educators better equipped to manage the environment in which we currently exist.
