Students with Scars: Understanding Self Injury
The reality of the pain and struggles that many of our students experience is becoming more apparent, and unfortunately the coping strategy of "self-harm" is becoming more common. There is a lot of fear, misunderstanding, myth, judgement and confusion surrounding why and how students self-injure and we are left wondering how best to react (or not?) and support them as they cope. This session will provide some insight into the reasons students self-harm, the various forms this behavior can take, and the best strategies for prevention and support through both their physical and emotional healing.

Teen Sexting, Nudes, and Distribution of Intimate Images
Smartphones, with the ability to send media instantaneously, have become the primary method in how teens will share what they call “nudes.” This behaviour comes with challenges for teens, parents, caregivers, law enforcement, schools, and communities. This program will summarize what over 250 academic peer-reviewed research projects have concluded on this behaviour. In addition, Canadian case law, and online investigative experience with teens and families will be discussed. The session will highlight influences, consent, choices, consequences that youth interact with. We will explore options teens have to reduce legal liability and reduce harm emotionally, psychologically, physically or socially specific to frequent challenges. Topic themes will include but not limited to exploitation, extortion, trust, law, privacy, incident response, and harm reduction. Information presented is sourced from research experience, literature review analysis, online investigation experience, and digital safety practitioner knowledge. This program is ideal for anyone that work with teens.

MINDFITNESS Workouts: A Revolutionary Approach To Fitness
It’s taken me over 20 years to create MINDFITNESS Workouts (Mindfulness + Fitness) which is a revolutionary approach to fitness where we connect the body and mind through movement and breath.
Getting into shape is like building a house. First you have to lay down the foundation and build a stable solid base and then you can progress from there. Far too often training becomes all about getting your heart rate up high and pushing yourself to lift heavier weights without proper form, resulting in injury, having to stop activity and eventually get treatment. I’ve seen this pattern over and over again. With proper training and mindful movement you can go back to and continue to do the things you love to do.
During this session I focus on building a strong stable solid base, functional movement patterns with an emphasis on correcting body imbalances, proper form, posture and addressing weaknesses which often lead to injury.
Coming together online is a safe and super fun way for us to connect, get into shape and leave you feeling energized, refreshed and grounded as each session also ends with a meditation.
