Current educational approaches focus so heavily on academic performance that many students will enter the global workforce without the life skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex and globally interconnected world. Integrating social emotional learning into our schools is foundational to the success of our young people. When SEL is meaningfully integrated into a broader educational approach, it enhances academic learning and builds the broader success needed for life and career success. A strong social emotional foundation is also key to building positive mental health in students, teachers and families.
