CATCA 2021

If you are a high school CTS teacher, this session is for you! We know that teaching these courses in any strand or occupational area can be very different from teaching core academic classes. It brings with it a different set of lesson plans, organizational skills, classroom management skills, assessment, resources and never-ending projects requiring their own sets of tools, equipment and materials. Hosted by CTEC executive, Deborah MacFadyen and Tim Kilburn, where CTS teachers from all areas can network, share resources, discuss challenges and successes and more.

Bio:
Deborah, currently with Calgary Board of Education as the Site Leader of Westbrook Outreach School and Vice President of the Career & Technology Education Council, is an experienced K-12 educator, administrator, PD facilitator and published author whose academic credentials include B.Sc., B.Ed. and M.Ed. in Teaching, Learning and Supervision. Deb has served in school, central office and Alberta Education settings in leadership roles in math, science, IOP, K&E courses, CTS courses, Career Pathways, Off-Campus and Health and Safety initiatives. Deborah has facilitated many diverse professional development opportunities and partnerships across the province with school jurisdictions, post-secondary, business and industry and ATA Councils. She continues to mentor student learners, teachers and administrators in implementing provincial legislation, regulation, policy, programs of study using effective pedagogical practice and personalization of learning.

Bio:
Tim is currently the Technology consultant for Fort McMurray Catholic Schools as well as the President of the Career & Technology Education Council. He taught Junior and Senior High computer courses for over 25 years before taking on the role as Technology Consultant. Tim is an Apple Teacher as well as an Apple Professional Learning Specialist focusing on the accessibility features of Apple devices.
