The Challenging Our Story of Canada
Timeline activity is a great opportunity to foster a deeper understanding of the diverse stories that make up Canadian history and encourage dialogue on the evolution of citizenship and inclusion. In this activity, participants reflect on milestones in Canadian history and culture and reflect on their own connection to Canada. This exercise helps participants to understand power and privilege within a Canadian context and reflect on the roots of oppression, exclusion, and colonization that contribute to issues that exist in our society today. We will explore some positive stories of resistance and resilience in these communities and reflect on which areas have made significant progress and in which areas that we as a country need to do better.
