This session is essentially a simplified introduction to philosophy with a goal to understand ourselves and others better. We live in a world where our beliefs can separate us from other people and contribute to exclusion. This session is built on the premise that disagreement is good and that every issue is complex. Its purpose is to help teachers to help students to understand folks with various belief systems. It will seek to encourage participants to build porous communities which, while remaining true to themselves, are able to coexist with other very different communities with understanding, respect, and love. (Yes, it is a little bit utopian) Secular, Christian, and First Nations worldviews will be presented as examples for consideration.
