Sudden, confusing, and catastrophic events have struck throughout human history. The COVID-19 pandemic, the widest reaching disaster of our time that has caused significant disruption and suffering, raises some significant questions for Religious Educators such as, “How could God allow something like this to happen?” to “How did people in the Bible deal with pestilence and disaster?” This sessions provides suggestions for understanding pandemic and disease within a faith context while allowing students to reflect on their own experiences and concerns in light of how people within the biblical narrative confronted disease and disaster.
