The history of storytelling goes back to the time of sitting around a campfire telling stories. Although oral storytelling is becoming more apparent in the classroom, using data, numbers, patterns, and coding to tell a story is still emerging - yet is an essential skill in communication meaning in our current world. Data science, and data journalism, involve finding and telling stories using data sets. In this (panel discussion or session) we will look at how students can use data and visualizations to write nonfiction in English language arts and social studies. We'll also discuss open science and ethical issues around uses of data.

Enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card by completing an optional Callysto feedback survey (http://bit.ly/callysto-feedback) after attending this session!
